To me, Green City Force means an opportunity to stray away from the mundane and be a part of something bigger than myself while at the same time becoming the best version of myself. I chose to become a Corps Member with GCF because it would be a great stepping stone into the world of horticulture. Seeing as there would be hands-on training and employment resources, this allowed me to refocus on my interest in landscape design. Before GCF, I was stuck working at a Walgreens, the job becoming tiresome due to undesired scheduling and loss of good co-workers. Knowing that I was accepted into GCF and would soon begin my service term had me elated. One of the most important things I learned during my time here is the importance of patience as it applies to the work we do literally, but it also applies to things such as having the patience to work with fellow members, hearing back from employers, etc. I’d like to thank the entirety of GCF for what they do and AmeriCorps for being an amazing organization. I look forward to working with them again.
