My experience so far with Green City Force (GCF) has been enlightening and character-building. Before I heard about GCF, I was maintaining the green spaces in parks with the Lower East Side Ecology Center. I ended up choosing to become a Corps Member because I saw the flyer and saw it as an opportunity to grow my skills, and I’d be in a better position to land more jobs within the horticulture/agriculture space. I ended up learning a very important lesson in not being too prideful; I always should be open to asking for help if need be, and I would like to thank my team for helping me understand that. Overall my experience with GCF has shown me that being a part of Green City Force is an opportunity for personal growth as a young adult while also learning ways to be more sustainable, as our quality of life will reflect how well we take care of our environment.
