Green City Force meant doing something new and trying something that I never thought that I would find myself doing. It meant being in a place where you get to grow and learn and build relationships and connections with people; a safe space to be yourself. I became a Corps Member because I kept receiving the GCF information session through email and was curious about what the program was about. Before the program I was a cashier at BJ’S Wholesale Club. Throughout my time in this program I’ve gained agricultural experience, construction, and cooking skills. I want to give a shout out to the staff at GCF for the support and encouragement to get out of my shell the first few days especially the tryout staff that was at Forest – because of you guys it was what really pushed me to want to get involved with the program even more. And a thank you to the friends and my little family I made from Soil Crew and my first crew Retrofit.
