Before GCF I was not as productive with my life as I felt that I should have been. My social skills had diminished as a result of me closing people out of my life, but I knew that I couldn’t go on forever like that. During the orientation week I remember other Corp Members speaking about hardships in their lives and how they’d overcome them. Hearing their words inspired me to do better for myself. It felt really nice to be around people with positive energy and motivation to improve themselves. As service continued I would later come to share laughs, anger, growth, and hopes with others. My most valued take away from the GCF experience would be the teamwork and community.
