Prior to joining Green City Force I was just another lost soul out in the universe. I wasn’t aware about food deserts, environmental justice and much more. The experience and skill sets that I’ve gained through GCF have been tremendous. From land improvement to transplanting, I’ve really enjoyed the time spent out on the farms. It’s hard to believe that the six Farms at NYCHA we’ve worked on can produce over 8,000 pounds of greens and tons of compost every year. It really has been an honor to be part of such a big project that has such a positive effect on the residents. GCF has also given me the opportunity to gain my OSHA-10 and GPRO. I look forward to my future and just sharing all the knowledge that I’ve gained throughout my service term.
