To me, Green City Force has symbolized difference and change from the day I had my first zoom call. The wonderful people that I got the chance to work with were great at keeping things professional while also caring about me and making sure I was okay every step of the way. I’m from James Monroe Houses in Soundview, the Bronx and that’s where I was living when I had just had my daughter and joined the program. Unfortunately, I had become homeless in the beginning half of the program and I had to move all the way to Jamaica, Queens (about a 2 and a half hour travel from my original home) and Green City Force never gave up on me. From my 69 hour deficit, from going to PATH, to having to meet with my social worker — Green City Force did nothing but help me by setting up an hours plan and giving me a voice whenever I needed to talk. I have a different love and interest for nature than before now as well. I very much enjoyed my time in GCF and I will definitely spread the word to help others in my community like me.
