Green City Force has been a truly eye-opening journey for me. I decided to give it a shot on a whim, wanting to explore something new in physical work and horticulture—areas completely unfamiliar to my career background. Fortunately, the program exceeded my expectations, offering a perfect mix of personal growth and sustainability in a supportive environment. Transitioning from a paper-pusher, I’ve shifted from stagnation to dynamic momentum. Joining Green City Force proved invaluable, providing not just a career shift but a holistic transformation which stands out from any other work experience I’ve had. Witnessing others of my demographic become vital gears for local communities through harvesting has been incredibly worthwhile. Green City Force, to me, symbolizes more than just a program; it’s an uplifting workplace and a catalyst for personal and professional growth that empowers individuals to make a meaningful impact each day. Working with the Staten Island Mariners Harbor team allowed me to authentically be myself, through unwavering support, they taught me the power of a positive attitude amidst challenges.
