My experience with Green City Force has been one of the memorable moments in my life due to the people in GCF and the training I received. The staff of GCF are not only extremely talented and knowledgeable, but they are friendly and highly understandable of your circumstances. There have been several occasions where problems occurred and the staff not only guided me but they gave me sound advice that I continue to use. In the beginning, I was very closed off and it would seem I didn’t want to interact with anyone; after a few days I was not only interacting with people with similar interests but also those that practically live a completely different lifestyle than I. It was an eye opening experience that I won’t forget anytime soon. The training was also a very valuable moment within my GCF experience. GCF has given us opportunities to obtain our OSHA and SST certifications, which will open up countless doors to employment as well as our GPRO. They have taught us work ethics and team building skills which is imperative in any work environment, not to mention they have given us a full eye’s view of inequality and injustice within our communities. Learning about the unfair treatment that black and brown communities have is necessary to navigate in this city as well as helping us to give back and enrich our communities. All in all, it’s been truly a wonderful experience and I hope future cohorts will enjoy it the same as I have.
