My Name Is Princess Banyan and I’m a 22 year old Urban Farmer from Manhattan. Green City Force has meant a lot to me. Without them I don’t know what I would be doing right now. I chose to be an Urban Farm Corps Member because I wanted to learn more skills that I would need in the future for my career, and also to learn more about myself. Before GCF I wasn’t doing anything with my life, despite knowing I have so much potential. The most important thing I learned at Green City Force is to be more humble, and to be assertive, not aggressive. My plan after Green City Force is to go to school for health and education. My career goal is to become a veterinarian. I want to thank my sister and Porch’e for showing me this program. I also want to thank Carson, my Team Leader for believing in me, telling me to never give up, and pushing me to see I could do things if I put my mind to it. All of the staff at GCF taught me things I didn’t know about myself. I push myself every day to become a better me–being humble, assertive, and just believing in myself. I learned that I will WIN and SUCCEED in life, and instead of trying, I will just DO IT!
