Green City Force has meant the world to me. This was a great 10-month experience. I’m glad I took this opportunity to develop into a young, independent African-American Queen professionally. I chose to become a Corps Member because I had had a few experiences in the garden, so I wanted more hands-on experience. Before Green City Force I was working in a middle school as a group leader conducting a dance class. The most important thing I learned from Green City Force is how to code switch in my professional environment. My plans after Green City Force are to do another AmeriCorps term with Harlem Children’s Zone being a PeaceMaker, and to also enroll in college, majoring in Early Childhood Education. I would love to thank Felicia Prince, Andrew Lewis, and Chevon Cooper for never giving up on me and helping me transition into a better person. They taught me to take every opportunity that’s given to me and to never give up. No matter how hard times can be, keep striving for the best and get that BAG.
