Cohort 27

Okiri San Miguel-Mujica (she/her)

Green City Force is not a program that is only about getting in the field, it is a program that helped mold me into my own independent leader within myself for others to witness my ROOTS. Becoming a Corps Member with Green City Force was my way of taking the initiative to seize the opportunity by executing my potential. The person I was before Green City Force was a scared, paranoid, reserved nineteen year old lady rediscovering herself without parents. I felt like a person born yesterday when it came to going through the motions of life as a legal adult. I was helping my oldest sister take care of our brother who is on the spectrum of autism while also decluttering our home due to our mom’s hoarding problems. One of the most important takeaways I learned in Green City Force is the importance of presenting myself as I build comfort in the uncomfort of being seen and heard. I’m thankful for my Service Coordinator Marc Diaz. I’m grateful to my big three Eco-Hub Fellows Melinda, Niles, and Joseph. I appreciate my Forest team and my Cohort.
