I became a Corps Member because this facet of work intrigued me. I wanted to learn more about the actual amount of energy that it takes to grow fresh produce on a large scale. It not only gave me the answers I was looking for but also a tremendous amount of gratitude and appreciation for farmers and people who work in green sector jobs. Spending my time at GCF meant becoming a part of something bigger than myself. Uniting with others to form a community that wants to see a change from the environmental injustices that are rooted within our neighborhoods. Teamwork and communication are fundamentals when working in a group. Not articulating yourself properly during a situation can not only hurt you but others around you. Don’t be afraid to say your ideas and opinions. Also, if you’re behind someone and they can’t see you when carrying a heavy or dangerous object yell ‘BEHIND.’
