I am grateful to have served as a Corps Member during these six months. When I first applied, my main goal was to go back outside and reconnect with nature as a result of Covid-19. What I encountered was a tight-knit organization who provided several opportunities to embrace leadership roles, gain education about a sustainable environment, and cooperate with an extensive network of my current cohort and GCF alumni. I can say I’ve gained a valuable experience that enables me to equip myself with new skills to share, contribute to sustainable practices which can benefit the environment, and continue to uplift myself and others. Green City Force empowers young people to embrace responsibility for themselves and the environment, to set intentions to steer life in any direction we choose, and to develop life skills. I appreciate the variety of experiences that I gained with GCF. Shoutout to all the Service Coordinators, Social Workers, Career Services and the network of people who invest in each and every one of Cohort 26 members. Cooohoooort…. 26!
