Green City Force to me was an opportunity to grow and to change the way I’ve seen life. Green City Force has changed me professionally and mentally. I chose to join Green City Force because I had just finished High School and had not applied to any colleges – I felt stuck. Before Green City Force, I wasn’t doing anything productive besides attending school. The most important thing I learned during my time in Green City Force is how to discover my skills and put them to good use. After Green City Force, I plan to continue to use the skills I’ve gained through my service in urban agriculture. I would like to thank all the Green City Force staff and everyone who has pushed me to succeed.
My time with Green City Force has been a wonderful experience. Who would’ve thought that I would last this long? I did, because once I commit to something I must see it through. This year and a half with GCF has showed me what the real work world is like. You must be punctual, attentive, reliable and personable and thanks to GCF I have mastered these skills. I spent all my time with GCF reconstructing and building my home community of Red Hook, by giving residents a healthier food selection through urban agriculture and engaging with them one on one while doing the signature Love Where You Live Challenge. I truly appreciate everything Green City Force has done for me.
