Before Green City Force I wasn’t doing anything and I had no drive to do anything. I knew school was important, but I had to take a break because I knew I couldn’t work and go to school at the same time. Green City Force has helped me to multitask more efficiently. With GCF’s support I was able to learn how to network, build flower beds and use power tools. I also became G-PRO certified and gained experience performing energy audits. Through outreach, I have broken out of my shell and strengthened my ability to talk to people one-on-one and in groups. I have helped with the cleanup of Sheepshead Bay and the rebuilding of the Red Hook Community Farm. I would like to give a special thank you to Kenta, Chris, Irene, and Mara for being a great support system when I needed one. After GCF, I plan to start school and get a job at the end of the program.
