Green City Force has whipped me into shape to become the young woman I am, that I’m actually starting to love and appreciate. Its methods of teaching us the ways of the world through the environment and community was something that I never saw coming, nor realized the effect that it would have on me not only 6 months to come, but possibly even 1, 2 or 3 years to come down the line. I’ve realized that not only my love for urban agriculture and nature has doubled in size since I started, but also my love for the people around me, the voices I’ve heard, the hands I’ve held and the smiles I’ve shared will forever be tattooed on me. I walked into Green City Force very apprehensive, a deer in headlights, and downplaying my place in the world. I’ve grown to learn that the world is harsh and difficult, but that never means your place is jeopardized and minuscule. I feel that I now can move in a world filled with a strong sense of confidence and leadership, but most importantly unity. I would also like to give a special thanks and shout out to my Mariners Team for showing me what unity is really all about, and as well as Wagner for always being the team to pull through for us.
