Green City Force was a way for me to improve myself, as well as the people and the environment around me. I chose to become a Corps Member because I was interested in learning about Urban Agriculture. I then attended an info session, only to realize it was for the Energy Corps. I decided to stay and complete the six month program, and during my time there I learned the importance of Energy Efficiency and its related fields, as well as Urban Agriculture.
Before GCF I worked as a server at a supermarket, and prior to that I was volunteering with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, assisting with invasive plant removal and planting trees. One of the most important things I learned during my time with GCF was punctuality. I say this because at my previous job I came in late often, so they let me go. When I became a Corps Member, I made it my priority to come in on time because it shows your employer that you’re committed to the job. After GCF, I plan to join a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), and I eventually want to create my own. Also, I plan on going back to college to finish my associates degree in Computer System Technology. I’d like thank the entire GCF staff. It has been an honor and privilege meeting you all. I’ll also like to give a shout out to Team Joshua. You’ve all been amazing and extremely supportive during these six months, and I look forward to meeting you all again.
