Before Green City Force, I worried about what I was going to do each day and how I would face the future. I was working three jobs to make ends meet but none of the jobs paid more than $8 per hour and my combined work assignments created a chaotic schedule and a state-of-mind not at all conducive to going back to school as I desired, let alone paying for college. I was overwhelmed by all of these part-time jobs. All I wanted was to go to school and have one job. I could not figure out how to make that happen. GCF changed all that for me now I can see my whole life – the Big Picture: go to college, have a career, and help my community. I now see I am no longer alone; I am bigger than just one. Green City Force has given me the opportunity to learn about the world of ‘going green,’ gain new academic skills, and even receive a stipend for doing service and getting ready to go back to school! After GCF my next stop is college, something I have been trying to pursue for some years now.
