Cohort 27

Jax Williams (she/her)

Throughout my service term with Green City Force, I have been provided many materials to aid me in my future. As a teenager, many resources aren’t given to us in other places in the world, i.e: jobs, school, etc. GCF has provided aid in housing, budgeting, and self-growth. Without GCF I would have been completely lost in multiple aspects of my life. I chose to become a Corps Member because I was lost. I didn’t have any person in my life to provide me with knowledge on how to get by. Based on the area I live in now, I was especially lost as a person of color. Before GCF, I was unemployed. I had just lost my dream job and had no other options at the time. The most important thing I learned in GCF was that you truly never know how much a stranger can change your life until you speak to them. This applied in service one day during a farmstand. I have a passion for makeup, and whilst informing a community member about what GCF was, I discovered he was a makeup artist for a big company and got to connect with him. I want to thank everyone that was a part of GCF during my service term; Career Services, Support Services, all Service Coordinators, and my fellow graduates.
