Cohort 18

Jaiquan Walker

I want to start off by thanking all of the Green City Force staff for all of their hard work and dedication. Most  importantly I want to thank Ms Lisbeth Shepherd for founding this opportunity and giving us people from these low income communities opportunities to become someone other than a stereotype. I have a little wisdom from each of the staff I have ever interacted with. Before I started the program I had an idea of what I wanted to do in life but at the same time I wasn’t applying myself. While in the program one of the most important things I have learned is that you can only get results when you apply yourself. I want to give a special thanks to Precious Colon because ultimately when I felt like just giving up, she found the patience within herself to push me. Believe me it wasn’t easy. The last two weeks meant a lot because I realized that I could have missed out on an amazing opportunity. While serving I have become more aware of my actions. I have learned that many things in the work world can be taken out of context, so be more aware of your daily actions and habits. Mr. Wesley showed me that you can be cool and professional at the same time. One thing that stuck out about Ms. Rosalba was that she has such a peaceful soul in my opinion. She showed me that it’s easier to walk around happy than angry. Big shout out to Aram for teaching me about GPRO. Andrew showed me that there is a time to fool around but you must know when you have to be serious. Ms. Carson was just nice to me and always made me feel welcomed. I want to thank Ms. Jennifer for having an amazing passion for what she does. Her passion speaks in her action and it let me know as a Corps Member that she really truly cared about each one of us. To Ms. Felicia thank you for all the talks and lessons. Thank you for seeing past my faults and continuing to work with me. THANK YOU ALL for investing time out of your own lives to help better someone else.
