Green City Force has been a transformative experience for me. Coming from a family of farmers, the opportunity to learn about farming crops, harvesting, and maintaining organic produce was deeply meaningful. GCF not only provided practical skills but also helped me obtain valuable certificates, all at no cost to me. The classes were engaging, offering a space to hear diverse perspectives and learn about the systems we live in. The social workers played a crucial role in helping me clarify and achieve my goals, providing support from a non-expectational standpoint. Before joining GCF, I was in high school, and shortly after graduation, I decided to give GCF a chance and became a Corps Member. One of the most important lessons I learned was the value of communication, which is essential both in the field and in class. I want to express my gratitude to my supervisor, who was a fair and caring leader, and to the staff and teammates who made the work enjoyable and productive. Lastly, I deeply appreciate the social workers who supported me throughout my six-month journey with GCF.
