Cohort 28

Isaiah Fryer (he/him)

My time at GCF will be something that I will always remember. The six months that I spent here taught me more about myself than I learned in my four years of high school and my years in middle school. The information that was taught to help me in life gives me hope that as long as they continue to do this type of work, the future generation, which is us, will heal the world of problems yet to occur. Month one, I was really nervous because I didn’t know anyone and this would be a very fresh environment that I’ve never been a part of. But as I spent time here in GCF, I understood that every person who is a part of the support are people who have gone through similar challenges and struggles. Bonding with my teammates and Corps Members and making friendships is something that I will take with me always. Month two, we got to the main things we were going to be doing in GCF. This work will test you and challenge your body but when you make it to the end it becomes second nature. All of the certifications and training that we received, like Solar One training, résumé building, communication, health and well-being, energy service, OSHA and SST are all vital and crucial elements to help you navigate a competitive job world.
