Never did I think that at 24 years old I’d find myself unemployed and ambition-less. I was not doing anything but staying at home and hoping that I would get a call back from one of the many Craigslist ads I kept responding to everyday. It was a stage of hopelessness! Luckily, I ran into one of the GCF flyers in the lobby section of my building. After attending an info session and not being quite sure what I was getting myself into, I decided to give it a try because I was very interested in the educational awards and the on-the-job training. Here I am 6 months later, graduating and already with a job that starts the next day with Con Edison’s “Multi Family Energy Efficiency Program.” For me GCF is like a second family and I very much appreciate all the help they’ve given me. Through GCF I have gained an interest in the green industry, which I had previously very limited knowledge about. It feels great to have acquired a passion for something that has to do with sustainability, because I feel like I’m contributing towards a better environment. I would like to give a very special thanks to Kenta and my Team Leader Wesley, for believing in me and always encouraging me to try harder. Wesley is very professional, and working for him has helped me learn and improve my own professionalism. I am very proud of myself. I have completely turned my life around after only 6 months! This program has and will always remain a stepping stone towards a prosperous and optimistic future.
