I joined Green City Force because I saw this program as an opportunity to better improve myself. I knew what I wanted to do with my life, but I didn’t know how to go about it. I was also doubting myself of what I wanted to do in my career. In the 6 months I was in this program, I have learned so many new things and have also gained some new interests, such as carpentry and urban agriculture. Working at the Farms in NYCHA developments not only gave me a sense of pride to help people who lived in the same communities as me, it also gave me the idea to build the world’s first underground farm. I also now have a heap load of ideas on how to maintain sustainability in the MTA for not only the stations and other buildings they own, but for the system as a whole. Long story short, there’s a lot of things that I didn’t think I could do that I now realize that I can do and it’s because of this program.
