As a college graduate unsure of my focus in the green sector, I wanted to join Green City Force because of the hands-on experience and exposure to different areas in the field. Being in the program has been a transformative experience. I feel like I’ve learned so much from my team, my site, my environment, and myself through the six months here. I’ve expanded my knowledge of sustainability and urban agriculture, learned critical skills, received valuable certifications, and gained the confidence to apply them and excel. There were times in the cold, the rain, to the extreme heat, it was hard to make it to the site. But instead of why I didn’t want to go, I thought about why I did want to go, which was to be there for my team since we have the second largest site and a lot of work to do. I have never been on a team more in sync or hardworking like ours at Forest. It wasn’t easy but through dedication, self-discipline, and perseverance, I made it. And I will continue to make it. I would like to thank the staff, my Corps Members, and especially my team at Forest.
