From my service term with Green City Force, I have realized just how beneficial bringing the community together can be in our own personal healing. Living in the most populous city in the country, it’s surprising just how alone people feel when faced with the daily barrage of challenges and hurdles that bombard us every day. Since working with GCF though, I’ve seen people come together to face these challenges together, hold each other up and push them forward. This community wants to change the world for the better, building on the ideals of community, sustainability, and equity and I respect them for it. They have motivated me to take what I’ve learned and to go out and help other communities build spaces where they can do the same.
