Cohort 27

Naiomi Sanders (she/her)

The most important lesson I’ve learned from Green City Force is the power of change. This program has taught me to keep going no matter the obstacles, to be resilient, and to rise above challenges for a greater purpose. The person I was when I started six months ago is not who I am today. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone—once shy and antisocial, I am now open to new experiences and meeting people. GCF has shown me that growth often comes from discomfort, and that pushing through it reveals something greater on the other side. Beyond gardening, GCF taught me invaluable life skills like the importance of community and teamwork, and the significance of using my voice. I joined GCF to challenge myself, to contribute to my community, and to grow in ways I never imagined. This experience has made me a more confident woman, constantly striving for more. Even when I wanted to quit, the encouragement from everyone around me kept me going. I’m grateful for the opportunity that has truly changed my life. My gratitude extends to every staff member, especially my Service Coordinator, Nasyah, who consistently motivated me, built my self-esteem, and pushed me beyond my limits.
