Hakim Jeffrey’s introduction to GCF happened in May 2018 when he enrolled in Cohort 17’s Urban Farm Corp with very little job experience. Using the tools given to him from the program and a composting internship at the BBG Compost site, Hakim has applied these skills day in and day out which resulted in him being one of the first to exit his term early for employment as a Landscape Installer at John Mini Distinctive Landscapes. Hakim was also viewed as an immense leader of his cohort which resulted in receiving the highest honor (Force Award) amongst his peers. Given his passion to inspire black and brown youth, Hakim joined the GCF staff in June 2019 where he serves/leads in his own community providing AmeriCorps members with transferable, professional, and field work skills to help them reach the goals to which they aspire.
