Devon Martinez joins Green City Force as a two-time AmeriCorps alum. First serving with National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) as an Assistant Team Leader, where she traveled throughout the Southwest U.S. responding to dynamic field environments through hands-on service projects, ranging from food security, urban and rural development, disaster relief, and youth development. For her second service term, Devon served as a Health Educator with National Health Corps, Chicago where she delivered comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education to Chicago-land public school students. As a native Western New Yorker, Devon returned to New York in 2018 to work in the non-profit sector. Since 2018, Devon has focused her efforts on NYC-based youth development, service-based program planning, community-affirming education, and local community organizing – she is eager to bring her experience to the green sector with Green City Force. Devon holds a Master of Social Work from New York University, Silver School of Social Work and a BA in Organizational Sciences with a concentration in Public Health from The George Washington University. Devon is an avid reader, utilizing her local Brooklyn Public Library, she enjoys pick-up volleyball, loves rooting for her hometown NFL team the Buffalo Bills, and is very seriously thinking about getting a cat.
