Cohort 29

Randy McDonald (he/him)

Green City Force was a heartwarming experience for me. It gave me the opportunity to meet new people, build connections, and gain valuable knowledge in horticulture, something I never thought l’d be interested in but now I see it as a possible path for the future. I chose to become a Corps Member because I wanted to explore industries I hadn’t been exposed to before and to earn my OSHA and SST certifications to continue pursuing a career as an electrician. Before GCF, I had just returned from school and didn’t really know what direction to take. Joining GCF gave me purpose and direction at a time when I really needed it. The most important thing I learned was how to grow and care for plants, which sparked an interest in possibly starting my own farm one day. I want to thank my Service Coordinator, Kawon, and our Fellows Stefaun and Aliyah. They always checked in on me, made sure I was okay, and truly supported me. I couldn’t ask for anything better. I also want to thank everyone on my team for making this experience unforgettable. Go Howard!
