Green City Force has meant bettering myself for the future. I didn’t choose to be a Corps Member for this reason at first though, it was more for the money to help support my family and to do something other than sit inside all day. I had just finished my SYEP job prior to GCF and was desperately looking for something productive to occupy my free time rather than doom scrolling, and thankfully the solution came in the form of a simple little flier in my hallway. The most important thing I’ve learned in GCF was not only the skills such as communication but networking and relationships, which technically go hand in hand. Through this program I’ve made friendships I want to keep and have also developed the ability to converse both professionally and personally, which, for me, is a big step. I want to mostly thank my team, Mariner’s Harbor, for making my service term comfortable and for always encouraging me to do my best. I thought I wouldn’t be able to make it, but they continued to make everyday worth the arduous commute for this moment.
