GCF has helped me evolve as an individual. It opened my eyes to all the different possibilities around us. We just have to take advantage of them. It taught me to do what needs to be done at the appropriate time because you might be letting an opportunity slip by. I’ve always had this mentality, but GCF has helped me sharpen and enforce it more through life and other things. I chose to become a Corps Member because of its benefits, and also because at the time it was something to keep myself busy as I was in a stage of trying to find myself. I learned the importance of communication especially when in a team setting. If you don’t communicate to your team they can get the wrong impression. When you communicate the team can share insight on what’s going on and can know how to respond appropriately. Thank you to the support staff, my team and Service Coordinator and, most importantly, Hakim for being understanding during the service term. I was motivated coming into the cohort but doubted a lot of things including myself sometimes, especially when it felt like things might hit the fan. I was reminded that my ability to bounce back in the 4th quarter is a strength that I should maximize on. Just when people start to count you out and think it’s over you can always make that three-point shot from half court to win the game. I appreciate Cohort 29 because I learned a lot through all the trips and all the trials and tribulations. Giving up was never an option and I’m glad I didn’t. THANK YOU COHORT 29 AND THANKS TO THE STAFF AS WELL. REMEMBER IT’S NEVER OVER UNTIL IT’S OVER!!
