Cohort 29

Lynneese Urena (she/they)

Green City Force has meant so much to me because it represents growth, second chances, and believing in myself again. Being here has shown me that I am stronger than I thought, and that I can show some grit to reach my goals. I chose to become a Corps Member because I wanted to do meaningful work and be part of something bigger than myself. The mission of sustainability and serving the community spoke to me, and I knew this was a place where I could learn skills while also giving back. Before GCF, I was struggling to find direction and balance in my life. I wanted to grow, but I didn’t have the structure or the opportunities I needed. GCF gave me that structure and the support to keep going. The most important thing I learned is resilience. Setbacks don’t define you. It’s how you rise and keep moving forward that matters. I want to thank the staff for guiding me, my fellow Corps Members for inspiring me, and my family and friends for encouraging me to come back and finish strong.
