Green City Force meant nothing to me at first. To this day, I still view it as a means to reach my goal. I would like to add that the program had helped mentally and physically with certain issues I had going on in my home life, but to me GCF is a means to have independence for myself. I chose to become a member because of desperation. My family never had enough money to sustain ourselves and coming from a homeless shelter, money was hard to come by. Before GCF, I was at college thinking it was what I wanted. It was not, and as a result, my grades slipped and I dropped out before I graduated because mentally, college wasn’t for me at that moment. What I learned from GCF is that connections are important, but not as important as finding yourself and your end goal at the end of the day. I want to thank my Wagner Team and my SC, Chastidy, for helping me throughout my term and essentially accepting me for me. I also would like to thank my family for being a real pain in the head, because they kept me grounded when I was all in my head.
