When I first started GCF I was expecting a summer job to pass the time in between work. However, I quickly realised that there were many aspects of the job that far surpassed any job I had up until that point. From the comforting sense of community, to the dozens of networking opportunities, and working with the wonderful GCF staff, I came to see that GCF was more than just a job. GCF was my first job experience that treated me like an individual and not a number. It was a space that allowed me to improve and express myself in new ways and taught me to take pride in my accomplishments. I owe a great deal to GCF and the opportunities and experiences it has given me. From beginning to end the staff has supported me throughout my service term and helped me prepare for my future as well. A big loving thank you to everyone at GCF and especially everyone at Bay View. Devante, Faith and Robin treated me like family and made me excited every day to wake up and work alongside them.
