Cohort 29

Elijah Arter (he/him)

Green City Force was a means to grow as a person and find myself while being able to give back to my community. Initially, I chose to become a Corps Member to gain experience in the workplace while developing skills to be used for the future. The most important thing that I’ve learned was that my presence is important. Before, I would be quieter and out of the spotlight, but now I believe I should bring my own ideas and energy and allow myself to interact and speak up and I thank GCF for that. As far as the people who helped me grow, it would be too many people to name individually. I’d like to thank my Service Coordinator Kawon and my team at Howard for their help in allowing me to stay on my growth path and being a great group to work with for these 6 months. I think they have allowed me to really feel natural in my environment. In addition to my team, I’d also have to thank the friends that I’ve made across the different sites as their presence made me feel respected and appreciated.
