Vice President of Equity and Workforce Development at the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA)
Erika Symmonds currently serves as Vice President of Equity and Workforce Development at the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) where she leads various efforts both to improve diversity, equity and inclusion within SEIAs member companies and the clean energy industry, and also to build and maintain the workforce needed to meet demand ahead for deploying solar, storage, and related technologies.
Erika has been in the green jobs training and advocacy arena for 13 years. Erika joined SEIA after 7 years at GRID Alternatives where she played a critical role in the growth of their solar workforce development programming and participated as a leader within GRIDs internal and external diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Prior to GRID, Erika helped develop and oversee environmental service and training programming with Green City Force. Her career started in the outdoor youth development space with Outward Bound and construction/affordable housing space with Habitat for Humanity.
She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and currently resides in Washington, D.C. with her wife, daughter, and grandmother.
