“Consistency in your goals is where success lies.”
Hassan Evans (he/him)
Graduated: 2024, Cohort 27
From: the Bronx
Current Position: Emes Solar, Assistant Project Manager
Emes Solar (pronounced “MS Solar”) is a company focused on change. It’s time to change the world and our first stop is here with you. Our goal is to give affordable, clean, and intelligent energy to our communities. We only install the highest quality solar panels.
Tell us about your current role and daily responsibilities:
“On weekdays I’m helping my team install panels and set up electrical equipment throughout the site. On weekends I’m in the office working with the Project Manager and electrician team to create site plans and grid designs. I also run site surveys with new clients and communicate with potential buyers of our services.”
Describe your career pathway. How has your GCF experience helped you?
“GCF has given me the grit to continue to learn and excel with the work that I have. GCF also helped me have the discipline to complete my training and engage in more leadership roles based on the skills they’ve helped me develop through my term. I was promoted because of my Bachelors degree and also my ability to become adaptive with my learning in solar energy systems.”
What advice do you have for current Corps Members and other Alumni?
“No one will show up for yourself better than you will. Consistency in your goals is where success lies. One only fails once they’ve given up and lose sight of what they seek to achieve.”
Achievements at GCF:
“Gaining my certifications and being able to build tools for my site.”
What’s your favorite GCF memory?
“Spending time with the Forest [Houses Eco-Hub] team. They mean a lot to me and everyone on the team including my Service Coordinator Marc pushed me to grow in ways I didn’t know possible. I owe everything to them.”
GRADUATION TESTIMONY:
“Green City Force first signified to me as a grail of sorts. Then later with more gaze, it reflected more of a system. My initial goal was to attain licensing for architecture work. After communicating with Alshawn, I learned there was far more a person can absorb within completion. Before GCF, I was introduced to cloud software. The reason I wanted to attend the program is all the experience in teamwork I would gain. From that alone, I can see how devoted this program is to developing people who join into the best versions of themselves and giving them truly all the resources needed to do that. Ultimately, I understand that it is up to my hard-work that will determine how successful I will be. Yet, I feel completely confident in what I can both provide toward the program, and what the program can mentor/teach that I can use in my career. Data in the digital world is quite a resource, but the ability of other individuals generates far more change. Your patience can cause anything to grow. In terms of thanking, that’s far too many words to place in a testimony. I’ll say it in person.”
