Dear GCF Community,
Our work creating social, environmental and economic justice relies on unity and intersectional empowerment. Acknowledging that these issues are profoundly intertwined, we seek solutions led by those most affected – especially frontline community members who are BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+.
From higher rates of homelessness among queer youth to discrimination in access to green spaces, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and other vulnerable communities often bear the brunt of environmental injustices. We acknowledge the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals in the face of these connected crises, and we also celebrate the activists, members, and allies within the LGBTQIA+ community who have left a powerful legacy as champions of justice, equality, and environmental stewardship, inspiring us to push for systemic change.
We honor the legacy of NYC’s Stonewall Uprising in 1969 followed by the city’s first Pride March in 1970 as well as all the present day LGBTQIA+ liberation community members, activists, and allies creating safe, inclusive communities.
This Pride, we celebrate and stand with each unique identity, voice and contribution of LGBTQIA+ GCF Corps Members, Alumni, staff, board, partners and supporters! Join us in celebrating Pride and advocating for a world where love, justice, and sustainability come together.
