AmeriCorps CEO Michael Smith, along with Andrea Mata, Director of Health Initiatives at NYCHA, and Congressman Jeffries’ District Director Maron Alemu, visited our Howard Eco-Hub on Friday, December 9. Service Coordinator and Howard native, Kyara Grant, led our guests on a tour of the site followed by a composting demonstration with Domingo Morales and his Compost Power team.
Michael was also able to speak about the importance of serving our communities and fighting for liveable wages for AmeriCorps members across the nation in Congress. Cohort 24 Corps Member Jordan Deshields also shared his experience of how he has grown during his service term. We ended the meeting with a group rock-paper-scissors competition and Corps Member-led call & responses.
