“It has been an honor to have participated in and be a part of an organization such as Green City Force. When I first joined, I was excited to learn, share ideas and get to work in the community. While that has been my anchor in motivation for working with GCF, I also value the life skills and guidance in the teachings provided throughout my training. The skills in teamwork, communication, diplomacy, responsibility and advocacy that I have developed through the mentorship and therapy sessions, helped me establish a confidence to tackle anything life throws at me.
Shortly after my time with GCF, La Finca Del Sur hired me as farm manager and CBO partner of Forest farm. The opportunity to manage and build a farm in my own community within the same year was a dream come true. Using the knowledge I have gained throughout my time with GCF and the people I have met along the way has made my experience remarkable. From teaching the new generation of Corps Members, to watching my community grow day-by-day, I feel grateful to have such a responsibility.
Training and working with GCF partners has been so impactful for me, not only do I intend to participate in any capacity to bring this much-needed experience to the young adults of the world; I hope to see the ideals displayed in GCF training to expand into schools and reach the youth of the world.”

Read Tyrone’s graduation testimonial below:

“Growing up in the Bronx, I realized that most urban communities are not supported when it comes to living a healthy life due to the conditions and the limited resources available in the environment of these communities. Thankfully, I have never felt like that being limited by my surroundings should or would define me. That’s one major reason why I joined GCF. At only twenty-three years old, working on farms with GCF has taught me not only how to be self-sustainable, but how to improve my surroundings by educating and promoting the feasibility of healthy living. GCF has provided me with the knowledge and empowerment to be confident and reach out to others who also want to learn about healthy living. The best experience during my time with GCF was building and maintaining a farm in the very development I grew up in. Working on Forest Houses Farm filled me with pride. I am honored to support my home in this way. The most important thing I’ve learned in GCF is to not only expand my knowledge, but take ownership of it and spread it to everyone around me. I joined GCF to make a difference in my community, and every community I touch. With the help of my Cohort and leaders, GFC has helped me discover my hidden potential in areas of life I will take with me well after my experience here ends.”
