icon-clock December 1, 2020

This national holiday celebrates and commemorates Native American history and culture. For more information on supporting Native American Heritage Day, visit the National Day Calendar website here.

Green City Force introduced the “Each One, Teach One” project on Juneteenth 2020 and has continued the project throughout the year. The phrase “Each One, Teach One” is an African proverb that originated in the United States during the height of slavery, when Africans were denied education. When someone learned how to read or write, it became their responsibility to teach others to spread knowledge for the betterment of the community. As part of this project, we are honoring the Lenape People at each of our farm sites to educate all those who use the spaces on the Native American history of the land. All five farm sites feature the text and imagery seen below:

Join us in honoring the legacies of Native American cultures! Taking the time to learn the history of stewardship of the natural and spiritual landscapes of our surroundings is critical to building towards a greener and more equitable future.
