Service
Corps Members gain hands-on experience through service as part of a Cohort serving under the supervision of GCF staff, many of whom are alumni themselves. Service initiatives respond to needs in public housing communities, cultivating and distributing fresh produce, building green infrastructure, and reaching residents with various health and resilience programs. Initiatives also include visits and service with partner organizations.
Training
Classroom training includes foundational, technical and applied education. Corps Members train for and complete a core Roots of Success curriculum encompassing certifications including OSHA, GPRO, and SST, as well as additional custom trainings. Trainings ranging across agriculture, culinary, nutrition, community health, energy efficiency and solar, green buildings and trades, recycling and compost processing prepare Corps Members with technical skills for a range of career pathways. Training offerings vary according to in-demand employment skills. Professional Development workshops build job interview, networking, and resume writing skills, while Personal Development sessions equip members with transferable and life skills.
