Dear GCF Community,
This weekend begins Climate Week NYC (9/22/24 – 9/29/24) – one of our favorite times of the year. It’s a time when climate champions from all backgrounds convene to share new ideas, inspiration, and solutions; tackle challenges; and celebrate and accelerate progress. This year’s theme “It’s Time” recognizes that climate change is here, and now is the time to act.
GCF is also proud to mark Hunger Action Month (September) as we continue building access to healthy food across NYCHA, and National Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15/24 – 10/15/24) which celebrates Latine culture, legacy and this year’s theme, “Pioneers of Change.” From the pioneers addressing food security to those raising awareness about various environmental and social justice issues, we honor the adversity, spirit, innovation, and contributions of our communities including the many Latine leaders. Thank you to the GCF Latine pioneers of change and other Latine community members across the city and country who are helping to create a more equitable and sustainable future.
GCF’s climate justice work is made possible by empowering frontline NYC communities to lead local everyday action. Whether it’s further developing green infrastructure, construction, and energy, or zero-waste, regenerative urban agriculture, and community health and resilience practices, GCF community members’ diverse, intersectional commitment to our collective #futuregreencity is what drives change.
